Level 2, Abilities Menu and New Mechanics


Hey everyone, I got lots of stuff done this month, meaning more Deja Vu content! So let's get into it.

The first major update is that you get a chance to see an early version of Level 2 (or maybe I rename it to Level 3, once I finish it). With this level I thought I would introduce one new major mechanic, let's just say it involves some time manipulation ;). Some more bug fixes are included under the hood, as well as a few new abilities. So here's what you can expect:

  • A new (incomplete) level, Level 2. What makes it incomplete is I haven't finalised the design of it yet. My idea is to have multiple paths to the goal in it, each with puzzles that build off of each other somewhat. So far I designed one main path to solving it and really like how it turned out so give it a try!
  • Added a new mechanic, the time manipulation one
  • Added a Radial Menu to access your abilities, which you can toggle by pressing TAB. Because of this, Left Click is now 'Play Current Ability' instead of 'Playback', but defaults to 'Playback' at the start of the game (when no ability is specified). Haven't updated the instructions in-game with this yet, but will by the next devlog hopefully
  • Added a puzzle to the Level Select Hub, so you have to solve it to get to Level 5 (which was the first level I developed for Deja Vu)
  • New action added, the Interact action, which on the keyboard is the F key, so you can pay your respects each time you pull a lever
  • Created some new hazards! I heard you liked spikes, so I put some horizontal spikes and falling spikes so you can be spiked while spiking. Spiiiikes.
